The West African Football Academy ended a long and demanding season on a high note by winning the international U19 tournament organised together with Tier One Agency.
In the final, WAFA finished with a 3–1 victory against Africa Foot from Mali, a respected academy that contributed to a very competitive tournament. It marked the second tournament WAFA and Tier One successfully organised together this season. The first tournament took place in November and coincided with the opening of the Academy’s new artificial pitch.
Over two days, many scouts and representatives from European clubs attended the event in Sogakope. The tournament delivered competitive matches and a strong footballing level throughout. Despite heavy rainfall during both days, WAFA’s new artificial pitch remained in excellent condition and played an important role in the smooth organisation of the event.
The feedback from visiting scouts was very positive. They were pleased with the overall level and particularly noted the tactical development shown by the players and teams involved.
WAFA also used the tournament to introduce several younger players who are expected to join the first team squad next season, making the event valuable both competitively and in terms of long-term player development.
The Academy looks back on a successful tournament and a strong final event to close an intense and memorable season.
